Ways to Review Data

Edited

The Data Exports section gives you several options for reviewing, analyzing, and saving your survey results outside of Glass. All export options are available in the Analyze Results tab. Depending on your needs – from quick summaries to full statistical analysis – you can choose the format that best fits your workflow.

Available Export Types

Questionnaire Export (Microsoft Word)

What it includes:

  • Full survey text

  • Skip logic

  • Randomization

  • Display conditions

  • Question IDs and types

When to use it:

  • Record keeping and archiving

  • Client or internal review of survey content
QA checks during or after fielding

Pro Tip: Save a copy before launch and after final fielding to document any last-minute edits.

Raw Data Export (Excel or CSV)

What it includes:

  • One row per respondent

  • One column per question

  • Actual respondent-level answers

  • Includes open-end text, coded values, and numeric scores

  • Metadata such as completion time, source, and duration

When to use it:

  • Manual data cleaning or inspection

  • Reviewing open-ended responses

  • Pulling custom metrics before final reporting

Pro Tip: Use this file to identify low-quality responses by filtering for speeders, straightliners, or nonsense text. See the Raw Data Export Guide for more details.

SPSS File (.sav)

What it includes:

  • Same respondent-level data as the Raw Data Export

  • Variable labels, metadata, and data types
Fully structured and coded for use in SPSS, DisplayR, or similar tools

When to use it:

  • Running advanced analytics (e.g., regression, TURF, segmentation)

  • External modeling in SPSS, R, or Python

  • Sharing data with statisticians or academic partners

Pro Tip: Use this version for longitudinal or tracking studies — it maintains consistent variable IDs and works seamlessly with dashboards.

Crosstabs

What it includes:

  • Summary tables by banner break (e.g., gender, age, region)

  • Top Box / Bottom Box calculations

  • Averages, nets, and custom groupings

  • Optional: statistical testing, significance flags, saved layouts

When to use it:

  • Comparing responses by key subgroups

  • Quick topline reporting

  • Building executive summaries or charts

Pro Tip: Save your Crosstab layout templates and banner sets to quickly replicate across waves or surveys. See the Crosstab Builder Guide for setup details.
